got food poisoning off pizza and fries at the...
after eating more seafood in a wk + 1/2 than i have in months combined, in totally foreign lands, i will spend sunday curled up in a ball, writhing and groaning bc of some BAD PIZZA..

our private dinner and a gamelan
for dinner friday we went to a gamelan show and we were the only people there.. they brought out a 5 course meal, encouraged audiance participation, and kept making announcements that started “ladies and gentlemen..” after some traditional gamelan, kathryn did a lovely rendidtion of country road and killing me softly, and i played along to juan tanamera, and got to play the gongs..

caught a ride back to the hotel on the back of some guy’s scooter.. he wanted rp20,000 and even tho he only ended up getting 1/2 that he and his scooter buddies still had a few huge laughs in my direction, which they followed w a sea of supportive thumbs up..

took a car to the national monument which was too crowded to actually go in and familiarly phallic… u can negotiate a flat rate with the cab drivers upon getting in, but it was early and i was feeling shy

a few streets in mongkok, stacked full of shops restaurants and street vendors. the place to get your haggle on… i needed some sunglasses, so i walked into a boothand found a pair i liked. the woman said $150 (HKD, which is less than $20US) but w a little coaching i left w them for $30HKD. hi ya! walk thru isles and isles of t-shirts, cell phone charms, lengerie/costumes, rip-off watches,...
